"Tropical Island Northern Style"

March 2, 2019 by Nightshade013 (Port Clinton, Ohio)

It's the North's answer to Margaritaville. Always an event, lots of partying, but plenty to do for the history buffs. Some great caves and you can shop and eat till the cow's come home.

"Wonderful, Exciting Visit"

December 30, 2018 by Steve1362 (Avon, Ohio)

Put-In-bay is located on South Bass Island in Lake Erie accessible by ferries from Catawba Island (not really an island) and Port Clinton, OH. If you going for a quiet, relaxing vacation, you are probably going to find it away from downtown. However, if you are looking for an exciting, party type atmosphere with lots of nightlife you are going to the right place at the pool bars and strip. While there are some family attractions, like Perry's Monument, the main attraction on South Bass Island are the lively bars and restaurants that offer adults a lot of adult especially on the weekends.

"South Bass Island, Put-in-Bay fun escape"

November 29, 2018 by rosemurex (Northwest Ohio)

Every fall afer the kids are back in school, my girlfriends and I head to Put-in-Bay (also known as South Bass Island). We take our bicycles on the Miller Ferry and spend the day enjoying the scenery, getting in a workout, and having a relaxing lunch. Sites include the South Bass Island Lighthouse (tours to the top only in summer), caves, wineries, and walking paths. Perry's Monument is a must see, hope the top will be open for summer 2012! Some of the gift shops have season end sales - bonus! Favorite shop, the Cargo Net near the Miller Dock.

"A Fantastic & Cheap Getaway"

October 11, 2018 by Hockey6361 (Germantown, Ohio)

I have visited PIB (South Bass Island) 5 times over the past 10 years and loved every single visit. There is just enough to do for about 2 days worth of a stay giving you a nice 3 day vacation for family, couples, or partiers. Luckily it is not too hard to avoid the partiers for the most part if you know what places to avoid at what times. The island on the lake experience is hard to come by and this location serves as a great cost effective vacation for those looking for a bit more simple trip yet still beautiful and fun.

"Lake Erie Treasure"

October 5, 2018 by QROOVISITORS (Houston)

We visited South Bass Island during the 4th of July weekend and it was a return to the charm of the late 19th century. Despite being born and raised only a few miles from the Lake Erie islands, I had forgot how beautiful these islands are in mid-summer. Just a short boat ride on the Jet Express from Battery Park in Sandusky and we were in Put In Bay on South Bass Island and swept up in the utter charm and beauty of the place. We rented gas golf carts and toured the island, with a stop at the Heineman winery for snacks and a bottle of the local wine -- a great experience. We retuned to downtown and visited the shops and entertainment places. Catching Mike "Mad Dog" Adams at the Roundhouse is great for adults (not recommended for children). Thank God this country had the wisdom to clean up the pollution in the Great Lakes -- they are a national treasure!

"I love Put-n-Bay!"

September 14, 2018 by kendeb7 (New Castle, Pennsylvania)

We go to Put-in-Bay a few times every year. It is like a close-by mini vacation with things to do for every age. Our favorite thing to do is to take new people there and show them around. We love renting a golf cart and touring the island and we have favorite restaurants that we always make sure to visit.

"The Island With Something for Everyone"

September 12, 2018 by emple50 (Tipp City)

The "Key West of the North". This place can be described as a vacationers smorgasbord. Sportsmen and women, singles, families with young children, older children, friends and entire families will find something to do that will keep all happy. The only "price" is how much you want to spend on your time there. It does cost to ferry across, but there are many ways to get around the island. Spend a day at Put-In-Bay!! You'll be back.

"You Can't Go Wrong With A Visit/Mini Vacation to Put In Bay!"

August 31, 2018 by GretaB. (Zanesville, Ohio)

Put in Bay is FANTASTIC!

Visited for a full day, and I wish we would have stayed ON the island for the entire weekend, instead of OFF the island in Port Clinton! We did not want to leave on the last Jet Express Boat taking us back to Port Clinton!

Definitly rent a golf cart, mopeds or a bike to get around the island..alot of the different attractions are spaced out from each other on the island..and it was so much fun to ride around in a golf cart the entire day too!

Went to Heineman's Winery and Put in Bay Winery...excellent wine at both places and friendly staff! Enjoyed the selection of different wines..yummy! Visited Perry's Memorial, but unfortunatly the memorial itself was closed, so we were unable to go up into the memorial..but, we did go to the museum and watched a neat movie about Perry's Memorial and learned alot..there was even a neat musket demonstrator on the back lawn of the memorial that showed us how the soldiers back in the war days used muskets. There were alot of other things we visited and seen as well on Put in Bay..and the nightlife was so much fun! We even seen a live band play 80s music at the Boathouse Bar and Grille and they were GREAT!! Loved them!!!

"Lake Erie Jewel"

August 15, 2018 by ALMAR1988 (Amherstburg, Canada)

For anyone in the Lake Erie area, this island holds the most enjoyable summer experience. You can reach the island by personal watercraft or a ferry from Port Clinton Ohio. There is everything you can imagine to fill your day..beach, watersports, museums, shopping, winery tours, cave tours, butterfly house and much more. They have an incredible choice of restaurants, from seafood, steaks, italian to Irish pub fare. Every meal is a differenet experience. Nightlife is a choice of many different venues you can experience by just wandering down the main road which surrounds a lovely park. Island transportation is mainly golf carts and mopeds. A perfect place for all ages to enjoy.

"What a fun place to go"

July 28, 2018 by Beenaroundtheworld2 (North Chicago, Illinois)

This has become an annual trip for us Women. Taking a ferry over makes the experience interesting each time as we tend to bring too much but it makes us laugh. We rent golf carts for transportation to see the Island and get around. The little town is cute with plenty of places to eat at and drink at. The night spots are fun and we danced til they closed the places. Pizza after hours is available and everyone here is so friendly. We DO go after kids are back in college so it is not as obnoxious. I would NOT bring young children here unless you keep them away from the nightclubs. We enjoy the harbor & seeing the vineyards butterfly house etc. Each year we do something a little different and squeeze a lot in. Shopping is so-so. Too touristy, they could get some nicer stores for the more serious shopper with money to spend...It is a blast here. Would recommend it for a girls weekend for all age women.
